A Hunger for Surrender
Surrender doesn’t come naturally. We were born to desire control, and one of the most beautiful things about God’s love is that He gives us the ability to freely choose if and when to relinquish control and surrender to Him. This can be an extremely difficult decision to make if you have experienced significant pain.
The vulnerability it takes to surrender is hard for someone who was hurt by their vulnerability. Not only does this friend need to learn to trust again but also rewrite their view of what vulnerability towards God truly is.
Once you have experienced surrender, most likely you will have a hunger for it - a longing to continue to give God control.
Romans 8:28 promises us, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.”
He has great plans of purpose for your pain. We pray our friends see that as they surrender their past, their pain, and their ways to Him.
